The Global Application Technology team for STAMAX within SABIC Innovative Plastics closely works with the commercial team to ensure succesful use of STAMAX in a variety of new customer applications. STAMAX is a long fibre reinforced PP material, mainly used for automotive semi-structural applications, and sales volume is rapidly growing.
The expertise Center for STAMAX is located in Geleen, The Netherlands, and cooperates with the CAE team in Bangalore, India, and local application development engineers in China and the USA. The team is leading in long fibre reinforced material application development.
Work areas included are: material characterization, conceptual structural design, predictive engineering, processing and testing.
Currently a vacancy exists for an application development engineer to expand the team.

The Challenge
- Together with the marketing team, translate the needs from SABIC customers globally into technical activities to support the application development.
- Generate conceptual structural designs, helping the customer to achieve much better, cheaper, lighter designs by defining and choosing the right concept.
- Perform mechanical and processing CAE analysis to enhance customer confidence that these designs will work.
- Have discussions with customers on material properties.
- Help the customer with solving issues during part production, processing and testing.
- Contribute to improving the modelling capability to stay leading in new application development.
Your Profile
Required Skills:
- Project leadership: being a self-starter in defining and carrying out a project from direct communications with the customer and work with a team for efficient exectution.
- Structural design insight: be able to quickly see strength and weakness in designs, and at the same time be able to generate sound structural design concepts.
- Experience and capable in predictive engineering, preferably on both mechanical and processing (injection moulding) simulations.
- Good communication skills. Be able to "teach" the customer and discuss alternative solutions with him.
